Dell 27 USB-C Monitor (P2720DC) Review | PCMag

The P2720DC from Dell
is a 27-inch monitor, and it wins our Editor’s
Choice for its size range among productivity monitors. Its ergonomics, mix of
ports, and color coverage are all solid, but one
notable convenience feature takes it over the top. A big draw for this panel is its ability to automatically daisy
chain to a second monitor to form a dual monitor array. That means you don’t need both
monitors attached to the PC that’s your video source, plus
the very narrow side bezels make the P2720DC a good candidate
for multi-monitor arrays. First, though, look at the
ergonomic adjustments you can do. The stand lets you tweak the height, tilt, swivel, and pivot. The display itself is an IPS panel. It supports QHD native resolution. That’s 2560 by 1440 pixels at a time when many 27-inch business monitors are limited to 1920 by 1080. One of its two DisplayPort 1.2 connectors is for connecting to computer,
while the other’s used for the daisy chaining feature. When another display is attached to its DisplayPort out
connector, a Dell application called the Express Daisy Chaining utility automatically integrates it
into multi-monitor configuration in extended mode. Also, its USB type C
port can deliver 65 watts to power or charge
devices, including laptops, while supporting
DisplayPort video over USB. Beyond the video connectors,
the display includes four downstream USB ports,
two USB 3.0, and two USB 2.0, for charging handheld devices as well as connecting peripherals. As for a test, we measured the P2720DC’s luminance in standard mode at 250.4 nits, well below its rated 350 nit brightness but more than adequate
for general business use. Also it tested at 99.8%
of the sRGB color space, the standard color space used
on the web and elsewhere. For its good range of features
and its color coverage, we’ve made the P2720DC
our latest Editor’s Choice among business monitors
smaller than 30 inches.
